• Hormones serve as the communication system between the cells in your body. They coordinate most bodily functions including mood, appetite, growth, digestion, libido, and immune function. Even a small imbalance in hormones can have significant impacts on your health. Our hormone levels begin to naturally drop as we age and we can notice ourselves slowing down. We can start to see a drop in general vitality, strength, sexual interest, decreased mental clarity and weight gain. When this happens, many people turn to hormone replacement therapy for relief.

Bioidentical hormones are derived from plant estrogens. They are chemically identical to human hormones, making it easier for the body to process and use. The most commonly used bioidentical hormones are estrogen, testosterone and progesterone.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy can be used to treat hormonal imbalances in both men and women.

  • Bioidentical hormone therapy can be administered through several different methods, but we feel the best method is through pellet insertion. Bioidentical hormone pellets are inserted into the body every few months, where they deliver a steady dose of hormones. This allows you to feel consistently better without the swings that often come from other methods, like injections or creams.

There is no hormone replacement method that works the same for every patient because each of our bodies is unique. However, hormone pellets have consistently brought high satisfaction ratings from patients.

In one study of hormone replacement patients, 95% of patients using pellets were satisfied with their treatment while only 75% of patients using injections and the 62% of patients using a gel were satisfied with their results.

  • Bioidentical HRT is used to improve the decline in hormone levels which frequently happens as people age. It can help with the symptoms associated with that decline including:

    Night sweats

    Hot flashes

    Sleep issues

    Weight gain

    Memory loss

    Mood problems

    Loss of libido

Furthermore, bioidentical HRT can help reduce the risk of cataracts, tooth loss, and diabetes. Some studies also link it to improvements in the skin's elasticity, thickness, and hydration.

  • Though everyone is different, it doesn’t take long to get relief through BHRT with pellets.

Typically you can expect the mood-related symptoms, like anxiety, impatience, or insomnia, will begin to resolve within the first week after BHRT pellet treatment. For women, hot flashes and vaginal dryness begin to go away around week two.

Both men and women notice more energy and sharper thinking at around three weeks. And for most people, 80% of their symptoms are entirely gone six to eight weeks after treatment.

These effects will typically last 4-6 months and will continue as long as you maintain BHRT.

  • It has been shown in research studies that there are risks to taking hormones. It can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, and gallbladder disease. Your risk of heart disease and breast cancer may also increase if you are older or use hormonal therapy for an extended period.

Side effects of BHRT can occur and are more common after the first dose. Your body may need time to adjust to the new hormone levels and many side effects get better as the body adjusts. In some cases, the dose may need to be changed. These side effects include the following:

    Weight gain.

    Blurred vision.

    Tiredness.

    Acne.

    Increased facial hair.

    Headaches.

    Breast tenderness.

    Spotting.

    Cramping.

    Bloating.

    Mood swings.

  • At your first visit you will meet with the doctor and have your first set of labs drawn. This visit is $150.

After your lab work has been reviewed you will come back for BHRT pellet insertion.

    For women $350

    For Men $750

After 4-6 weeks you will come back for labs and to visit about your symptoms, there is no cost for this visit and labs. If additional BHRT pellets are needed they will be inserted for no additional cost.

When your symptoms return in 3-6 month you can schedule an appointment for the next round of BHRT pellets. The pellet insertion cost will be the same: $350 for women and $750 for men.
